First Container of Dave Gunning Capos Arrives

The first of many containers carrying Dave Gunning’s specialized guitar capos has arrived at the Stan Fest festival grounds, marking the beginning of a much-anticipated logistical effort to support the acclaimed Nova Scotian singer-songwriter.

Festival staff were seen early Monday morning working tirelessly to clear the arena floor, which will serve as the temporary storage site for the incoming shipment. With additional containers expected in the coming days, organizers are racing to make room for what’s being described as a “significant volume” of gear.

Gunning, known for his aw shucks demeanour, and unique capo techniques, relies on custom industrial-grade models to accommodate his playing style — often placing them unusually far up the guitar neck to achieve his signature sound. Sources close to the festival say these capos are “built to last,” designed to withstand the rigors of Dave’s playing.

“It’s not your average capo situation,” one staffer remarked. “These things are engineered like aerospace components.”

Stan Fest, one of Eastern Canada’s premier folk festivals, kicks off later this week, and excitement continues to build — not only for the music but now, unexpectedly, for the mechanical marvels supporting it.
