Container Full of Capos Lost in Truck Accident
A transport truck carrying a container full of custom guitar capos destined for Dave Gunning was involved in an accident Monday on the highway to Canso, Nova Scotia. While no injuries were reported, the container — part of a larger shipment en route to Stan Fest — is considered a total loss.
The truck, hauling one of many containers specially loaded with Gunning’s industrial-grade capos, veered off the road just outside Guysborough County. Emergency crews arrived quickly on the scene, confirming that the driver was uninjured. The same could not be said for the container, which reportedly broke open on impact, scattering hundreds of damaged capos into the surrounding brush.
Festival organizers are now scrambling to assess the impact of the loss. Known for his extensive and intricate capo use — often requiring multiple changes in a single song — Gunning may find himself short of the precise gear he needs for certain songs.
With additional shipments still en route, there’s hope the shortfall can be recovered. But with Stan Fest kicking off in days, fans and staff alike are holding their breath — and watching the highway — as each remaining container makes its way toward the coastal stage.
“He goes way up the neck, and he does it often,” said one festival tech. “These aren’t your average music store capos. They’re reinforced and calibrated.”
